ACDA standard for Split Systems

Indoor Unit

  • Install unit in the most desirable location for air circulation.
  • There should not be any heating appliances adjacent to the unit.
  • Ensure the space from the ceiling meets the manufacturers requirements.
  • Install unit to allow proper drainage.

Pipework

  • All pipe joints to be silver brazed or flare connections as applicable.
  • All flares to be correct - pipe cleaned and reamed before flaring. Refrigeration oil or Vaseline to be used before tightening.
  • Never leave pipework open for long periods of time.

Electrical

  • All wiring to be as required to conform to current S.A.A. wiring rules.
  • All unit connections to be bushed or terminated using knockouts provided.
  • Wiring between indoor and outdoor units to run with pipework were possible.

Condenser

  • Always position condenser on a level concrete slab/plinth or brackets as required.
  • Fit vibration rubber under the condenser feet.
  • Allow manufacturers clearances for service.
  • Keep pipe and electrical connections from service duct to condenser at a minimum length

The Air Conditioning Dealer Association Guarantee

Should an ACDA member fail to complete or install the product to ACDA Standards, the Air Conditioning Dealer Association will engage the services of a Chartered Engineer to investigate, report and advise the client of any defects or shortcomings of their installation.

Applies to new domestic installations and is limited to a contract value of up to $25,000.00 including GST.
