Water from a Split System

The following is an example of how to modify the drain from a High Wall split system air conditioning system to collect condensate water, using readily available components available at most hardware stores.

STEP I

Identify the drainpipe. If you cannot be certain, call an A.C.D.A. Member to do the conversion. You could damage your air conditioner or electrocute yourself.

STEP II

Using conduit cutters cut the drain and insert a “T” piece and isolation valve.

STEP III

Install a hose from the “T” piece and allow sufficient length to collect the water in the bucket.

STEP IV (to collect water)

To collect water in the bucket shut the valve to drain.

STEP V (to stop collecting water)

If you don’t want to collect the water, open the valve to the drain.
