Installation Features:

  • Galvanised metal auxiliary drain tray under the fan coil unit in roof space.
  • Two separate condensate drains fitted: One from the fan coil unit drain pan, One from the auxiliary drain tray.
  • Colourbond metal pipe duct used to conceal external piping and wiring where practical.
  • Ductwork size and layout individually tailored to suit the application.
  • Balancing dampers fitted as necessary.
  • All work carried out by qualified tradesmen.
  • Installation and associated ductwork and materials guaranteed against all defects for a period of twelve (12) months.
  • All rubbish removed from the site during installation.

Fan Coils

  • To be suspended by straps on all 4 corners or placed on plinth as required.
  • Fan coil unit to be suspended above the ceiling permitting fall to the drain spigot end.
  • Supply air and return air plenums are to be secured properly to the fan coil unit.
  • Never obstruct service panel with piping and electrical conduits.
  • When positioning fan coils in roof do not cut main support timbers without bracing first. If in doubt seek the relevant professional advice.

Drains/Drip Tray

  • Auxiliary drip tray to suit the relevant brand of fan coil unit.
  • Drain from auxiliary drip tray to run separately from the main drain of the fan coil unit.
  • Both drain lines to be saddled/secured to minimise accidental movement.

Ductwork

  • All flexible ducts to be double taped - inner sleeve first, then insulation and outer sleeve. Make sure sheetmetal on fittings is not left exposed.
  • If joining fittings together without ducting - joints to be screwed and taped.
  • If a full length of duct is not needed do not use - shortest distance is best (except last length to the outlet).
  • Don't have sharp bends on ducting.
  • Return air ducting to be at least one full length (3 metres) for twin or (6 metres for single) where practical.
  • Ducting to be suspended if required.

Zones

  • If fitting directly to 'BTO' or 'Y' or 'plenum', make sure zone 'shape' still allows correct operation.
  • Install zone so as motor is in a serviceable position.
  • Never position a zone directly onto gyprock.
  • Zone motors to be fitted to assemblies to meet manufacturers requirements.

 Pipework

  • All pipework joints to be silver brazed or flare connected as applicable.
  • All flares to be correct - pipe reamed and cleaned before flaring.
  • Pipe joins to be either swaged or coupled solder joints.
  • Pipe insulation joints to be taped.
  • Liquid line to follow same route as suction line.
  • Insulate pipe right up to unit - do not expose suction/liquid line - especially in ceiling.
  • Where possible piping in ceiling to be protected or positioned to prevent accidental usage as a support - so no one 'treads' on it.
  • Never leave pipework open for long periods of time - if roughing-in a system make sure pipework is capped off or taped off prior to leaving site.

Electrical

  • All wiring to be as required to conform to current S.A.A wiring codes.
  • Colour coding of control wiring to be as consistent as possible from job to job.
  • All unit connections to be bushed or terminated using knockouts provided.
  • Any wiring joints to be 'J Boxed" if required.
  • Wiring between indoor and outdoor units, to run with pipework, where possible.
  • Before fitting controls, confirm location with customer.
  • If lights not earthed, inform customer this needs to be done.

Condenser

  • Always position condenser on a level concrete slab/s or plinth or brackets - check with customer that this is the position agreed to.
  • Fit vibration rubber under condenser feet.
  • Always allow enough space to access condenser service panel.
  • Never obstruct service panel with piping and electrical conduits.
  • Keep pipe and electrical connections from service ducts to condenser at a minimum length.
